🪙 RS3 Fresh Account Money Making Guide (July 2026)
Last updated: July 2026 | Post-DailyScape Overhaul, post-Combat Modernisation, post-Havenhythe.
⚡ The 2026 Economy — What Changed
The RS3 economy shifted massively in early-to-mid 2026. Before diving into methods, here's what happened and why it matters for your wallet:
| Update | Date | Impact on Money Making |
|---|---|---|
| Treasure Hunter Removed | Jan 19, 2026 | No more pay-to-win GP/XP injection. Gathered commodities are worth more. |
| DailyScape Overhaul | Mar 16, 2026 | Wilderness Flash Events, Warbands, Daily Challenges, Vis Wax all removed. Many NPC shops switched from daily → weekly restock. |
| Combat Modernisation | Mar 2026 | Attack/Str/Magic/Ranged cap raised to 120. Abilities pruned. Renewed demand for training methods & gear. |
| Havenhythe Expansion | Mar 2026 | Largest area expansion ever. New bosses (Silverquill, Ivar). New Masterwork Ranged Armor chain (uses Apex Sinew, Apex Leather). Dragon leather demand spiked. |
| GE Modernisation | Summer 2026 | Live trade prices shown (avg of last 10 trades). Price shift cap increased from 5% → 20%. Buy limit countdown timers added. |
| Mid-Game Rebalance | Jul 2026 (rolling) | Fletching re-tiered. Boss instance costs permanently removed. Ammo simplified. GWD1/GWD2 QoL. |
IMPORTANT
The Margin Testing Rule: GE guide prices are often inaccurate. Before committing to any method, always do a 1-item test run:
- Gathering/Combat: Kill 1 monster, sell the drops instantly on the GE to see the real price.
- Processing: Buy 1 raw material, process it, sell it back. Calculate your actual profit margin.
- Compare Variants: Some methods have daily variation (e.g., Fishing Urns vs. Woodcutting Urns, different herb incense sticks). Test multiple and pick the winner.
🟢 Phase 1: Starting from Absolute Zero (F2P / No Requirements)
These methods require no stats, no starting capital, and work in Free-to-Play.
1. Slaying Cows in Burthorpe (~1M GP/hour)
- Location: Burthorpe cow pen (north of the Burthorpe lodestone — NOT Lumbridge).
- Why Burthorpe? The bank chest is significantly closer than Lumbridge's cow pen.
- Collect: Cowhides + Raw Beef. Ignore bones (too slow to pick up).
- Bonus: Raw Beef can later be cooked into Sinews for even more profit (see Phase 2).
2. Draynor Cabbage Picking (~900k GP/hour)
- Location: Cabbage field south of the Draynor Village farming patch.
- Method: Harvest cabbages, bank at Draynor bank. Consistent demand from Player-Owned Farms and questing.
3. Spell Wisps at Wizard's Tower (~1.2M GP/hour)
- Location: Outside the Wizard's Tower (south of Draynor Village).
- Method: Kill Spell Wisps. Guaranteed drop: Impious Ash (~2k GP each).
- Banking: Use the deposit NPC standing outside the tower — no walking back to Draynor needed.
4. Archaeology Material Farming (F2P, Capped at Level 20)
- Location: Kharid-et digsite.
- Method: Excavate low-level spots. Collect Third-Age Iron (~3k GP) and Saradomin Insignia (~7k GP). Fully AFK — just click and wait.
- Banking: Use the bank chest at the top of the digsite.
- Note: Prices were even higher earlier in 2026 (14-15k GP each during Combat Modernisation launch). Still solid passive income.
5. Mining Clay (F2P, Better Than Gem Rocks)
- Location: Burthorpe mines.
- Method: Mine clay and sell on the GE. Equip a Bracelet of Clay to automatically soften it into soft clay (higher value).
- Why not Gem Rocks? Gem rocks have a 1min 25s respawn timer shared with other players. Clay is faster and more consistent.
🟡 Phase 2: Low-to-Mid Stats Processing (1M–5M Starting Budget)
Once you have some starter GP, these processing methods scale your income dramatically.
1. Tanning Dragonhides (~5M – 10M GP/hour)
- Requirements: Level 1 Crafting (any hide type works)
- Intensity: High click rate (most profitable active method at low levels)
- Method:
- Set up a bank preset: full inventory (28) of Blue or Green Dragonhides.
- Use a Portable Crafter next to a bank chest. World 84 Lumbridge or Fort Forinthry usually has one deployed.
- Right-click configure the crafter → "Tan Leather".
- Loop: Load preset → Left-click crafter → Press Space → Bank → Repeat.
- Top community speed: ~35,000–40,000 hides per hour.
- 2026 Boost: Dragon leather demand spiked due to the Havenhythe Masterwork Ranged Armor crafting chain (requires Apex Leather, which uses dragon leathers as a base component).
2. Cooking Raw Beef into Sinews (~2.5M – 4.5M GP/hour)
- Requirements: Level 1 Cooking
- Method: Buy raw beef on the GE → cook on a stove/range to produce Sinews. Use the Lumbridge Castle kitchen.
- Why it works: Sinews sell for ~3,500 – 3,800 GP each (spiked to 6-7k during the Havenhythe launch). Massive demand from players crafting Masterwork Ranged Armor.
- Warning: You will burn meat at low Cooking levels. Use ranges with lower burn rates.
3. Molten Glass → Beer Glasses / Bomb Vials (~3.5M GP/hour + Crafting XP)
- Requirements: Level 1 Crafting (Beer Glasses) | Level 54 Crafting (Bomb Vials)
- Method: Buy molten glass on the GE. Blow into Beer Glasses (surprisingly high profit at Level 1) or Bomb Vials at Level 54.
- Why Bomb Vials? They are permanently consumed in endgame PvM (Vulnerability Bombs, etc.) — extremely stable demand, almost never crashes.
4. Incense Sticks (~8M – 20M GP/hour)
- Requirements: Level 35–75 Firemaking (varies by stick type)
- Method: Buy clean herbs and base incense sticks on the GE → combine into finished incense sticks.
- Best Types to Test: Spirit Weed, Dwarf Weed, Kwuarm, Torstol. Margins change daily — always test 1 first.
- Why it works: Incense sticks are consumed in PvM and skilling. Always in demand.
- 2026 Note: Prices spike during Double XP events. Stockpile materials before DXP and sell finished sticks during.
- AFK Level: High — great second-monitor activity.
5. Fort Forinthry Construction (Refined Planks & Frames)
- Requirements: Level 40 Construction (complete the New Foundations quest for instant Level 40 + unlocks)
- GP Rate: ~3M – 5M GP/hour (market-dependent)
- Method: Buy planks (Willow, Maple) on the GE → process into Refined Planks at the Fort Forinthry sawmill → optionally process further into Wooden Frames.
- Strategy: Stockpile frames before Double XP events, then slow-sell them for peak prices.
🔵 Phase 3: Mid-to-High Level Methods (P2P)
1. Necrotic Rune Crafting (~15M – 30M GP/hour) ⭐ TOP METHOD
- Requirements: High Runecrafting (110+ for best multipliers), Impure Essence
- Method: Craft Spirit, Bone, Flesh, or Miasma necrotic runes at the Runecrafting altars. Use an Abyssal Titan familiar for extra essence capacity.
- Why it dominates: Necrotic runes are consumed by every Necromancy player in the game — rituals, combat, everything. Demand is insatiable and never crashes.
- AFK Level: Semi-active (altar runs), but exceptionally profitable.
- 2026 Note: One of the most consistent non-combat profit methods in the entire game post-TH removal.
2. Fletching Onyx Bolts (~16M GP/hour GE, ~37M GP/hour via High Alch)
- Requirements: Level 73 Fletching
- Method:
- Buy Rune Bolts + Onyx Bolt Tips on the GE.
- Join World 84. Use a Portable Fletcher. Equip Fletching Cape + Brooch of the Gods.
- Attach tips to bolts. The passive buffs (cape perk, brooch, portable) multiply your output — you create more bolts than materials consumed.
- Sell bolts on GE (~6k each) or High Alch them for 8,179 GP each (use an Auto-Alchemiser Mk II to automate).
- Buy Limit Warning: Onyx Bolt Tips have a buy limit per 4 hours. Prepare in advance.
- 2026 Note: July's Fletching re-tier may change level requirements — monitor patch notes.
3. Spinning Starbloom Flowers (~9.8M – 13.8M GP/hour, Fully AFK)
- Requirements: Level 100 Crafting
- Method:
- Option A: Buy Starbloom Flowers → spin into Starbloom Thread on a spinning wheel (Fort Forinthry, next to bank). Sell threads (~23.7k each). ~13.8M GP/hr.
- Option B: Weave threads into Starbloom Cloth at a loom (2 threads = 1 cloth, ~50k each). Lower GP/hr (~9.8M) but maximizes profit from the 1,000 flower/4hr buy limit.
- 2026 Note: Margins have tightened since introduction — check current GE prices before bulk buying.
4. Slayer Tasks (Variable, Scales with Level)
- Method: Complete Slayer assignments, collect salvage drops and alchables.
- GP Rate: Scales massively with combat level. High-level tasks (Abyssal Demons, Rune Dragons) are 5M–15M+ GP/hr.
- Tips: Use Slayer masks to force profitable tasks. Necromancy makes clearing tasks very fast.
- 2026 Note: Post-Combat Modernisation, Slayer is one of the best ways to simultaneously train combat to 120 AND make money.
5. Easy Clue Scrolls (~3M – 6M GP/hour)
- Method: Pickpocket H.A.M. Members (Lumbridge) to obtain Easy Clue Scrolls. Solve using the Alt1 Toolkit.
- Why it works: Rewards include Fortunate Component items (Bob shirts, trimmed armor) — each worth ~1.5M – 2.5M GP. High-level players disassemble these for Invention perks.
- Tools: Alt1 Toolkit for instant puzzle solving. Join the Clue Chasers Discord for community help.
📅 Optimized Weekly/Daily Routine (Post-DailyScape Overhaul)

💰 GE Flipping (Passive Income Layer)
- Core Concept: Buy items at the "slow buy" price → sell at the "insta buy" price. Pocket the margin.
- 2026 GE Changes: Price shift cap increased from 5% → 20% (prices correct faster). Live trade data now shown. Factor in the GE tax.
- Strategy: Set buy/sell orders, then go do other activities. Diversify across 8 trade slots (members).
- Pro Tip: Flip items you can also process — e.g., if raw beef crashes, you can cook it into sinews instead of selling at a loss.
- Watch For: Update-driven price spikes (Havenhythe, Mid-Game Rebalance, DXP announcements).
